Saturday, March 31 is the date for the Graduation Open House Celebration for our next HHHvets, The Nancy S. Cahoon Class.
As all of our open house events are, this will be a family friendly afternoon, offering food and fun, and a chance to meet the veterans who will have completed HHHvets Equine Assisted Therapy. We will have indoor and outdoor activities for children and adults at Keller Horsemanship in Pegram.
NANCY S. CAHOON CLASS
"First class of 2018 is named the NANCY S. CAHOON CLASS. In 2017, Heroes and Horses Healing, Inc. lost a good friend..."
In 2017, Heroes and Horses Healing, Inc. lost a good friend. Nancy Cahoon, an early, ardent supporter and "Partner on the Journey", died November 22. But her support and love for this great adventure lives on! Because of Nancy's enthusiasm for our endeavor, HHHvets has continued to receive generous contributions in Nancy's memory from her friends in various parts of the country. And now, HHHvets’ Executive Committee has voted unanimously to name our first class of 2018, the February-March 2018 sessions, the NANCY S. CAHOON CLASS.
We will soon begin running profiles of some of the five amazing PTSD-coping veterans who have been selected to participate in the NANCY S. CAHOON CLASS, as well as offering a look at some of the men and women volunteers and rescued horses, all of whom are currently in training to work with this class.
OPEN HOUSE
June 25, 2017
The Open House held Sunday, June 25th was a GREAT SUCCESS! The weather was beautiful and the donors, volunteers, other suporters, and Veterans' families turned out in much greater numbers than we hoped for. Click below for more details and photos. If you missed this one, please check this site often to find out when our next Open House will be held.
VOLUNTEERS TRAINING
August 26, 2016
On Friday, August 26, 2016, eight volunteers participated in an intense 3 hour assistants training class at the Keller Horse Training facility. It was led by our Clinical Director Dede Beasley. The next trainng session is set for Sunday, September 4th from 1:30pm till 5:30pm. All class assistant volunteers for our first class should attend. We will cover a lot of ground, including safety, confidentiality, a very tightly planned curriculum, responiblities of volunteers, communicating, and what we can expect from each session.
Our first class for our veterans-what this whole thing is all about, is just around the corner. 13 sessions beginng in a few weeks.
OPEN HOUSE
June 25, 2016
Our first open house for HHHvets, held Saturday, June 25th, was a great success. The event drew directors, advisors, friends and many others who wanted to get to know more about each other, and about what Heroes and Horses Healing is all about. Thanks to all who were there, and all who helped make it work.
Claudia and I want to especially thank our Three First Ladies: Hilda Keller, our Professional Horse Trainer and owner of Keller Horsemanship and riding Instruction for making her stables and beautiful facilities available for us (on the heels of her very successful first annual Ride for the Rescues Trainers' Challenge); Jane McAllister, operator of River Edge Farm Horse Rescue in Lyles, TN, who provides most of our rescued horses, and who brought her great little horse Zippy to give pony rides and picture opportunities to children and families; and to Dede Beasley, our Certified Professional Equine Assisted Therapy Clinical Director, who showed small groups of guests, up close, how the therapy for PTSD-copers and Rescued Horses works.
We plan to do this more in the future for targeted groups of veterans, families, general public guests and prospective donors and sponsors.
